Ocean Springs Main Street has been designated as an Accredited Main Street America™ program for meeting rigorous performance standards. Each year, Main Street America and its partners announce the list of Accredited programs to recognize their exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the Main Street Approach™.

In 2023, Main Street America programs generated $5.68 billion in local reinvestment, helped open 6,630 businesses, generated 35,162 net new jobs, and leveraged 1.66 million volunteer hours in communities. On average, for every dollar that a Main Street program spent to support their operations, it generated $18.03 of new investment back into Main Street communities.

The Ocean Springs Main Street’s performance is annually evaluated by Mississippi Main Street Association, which works in partnership with Main Street America to identify the local programs that meet rigorous national performance standards. Evaluation criteria determines the communities that are building meaningful and sustainable revitalization programs and include standards such as, fostering strong public-private partnerships, supporting small and locally owned businesses, and actively preserving historic places, spaces, and cultural assets.

In 2023, the Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street programs generated a more than $24 million economic impact into the community, worked with fifty new businesses, helped to welcome more than 300,000 visitors to the community and leveraged more than 2000 volunteer hours.



Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau is a three-tier, non-profit organization created in 1947 that promotes tourism, preservation, community vitality and local culture. In 1989, Ocean Springs became a national main street community. Today, the Ocean Springs Chamber– Main Street – Tourism Bureau located in the heart of downtown not only serves to promote and preserve, but also informs as the official town visitors center. Ocean Springs Main Street is a recipient of the 2013 Great American Main Street Award and voted as “One of America’s Most Charming Main Streets” for 2024.
