(Ocean Springs, MS) – In Ocean Springs, the month of May has been coined “Food
Month” to promote the more than 100 restaurants and bars around town. The Ocean
Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau and its participating
partners will host the Taste of Ocean Springs Food Crawl set for Thursday, May 11
from 6-8:30 p.m. in walkable downtown and at the L&N Depot Plaza.
Participating restaurants and bars will set up a booth in their footprint and at the L&N
Depot Plaza lot and offer a sample to ticketed guests. Each guest will have a wristband
and a punch card that must be presented at each stop. Punch cards will be turned in
to a designated downtown “Taste” information booth by 8:30 p.m. to be entered to
win gift cards and goodies from area restaurants.
Current participating business tastes include shrimp and grits, pork belly, burnt ends,
baked stuff shrimp, tacos, pizza, pineapple margaritas and much more.
“Our goal is to draw customers back next week or even next month to eat with us in
Ocean Springs, says Cynthia Sutton, executive director of the Ocean Springs Chamber
of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau. “What better way to let locals and
tourists know what our restaurants have to offer than to taste an offering.”
Tickets can be purchased at the Ocean Springs Chamber/Visitors Center or online at
www.oceanspringschamber.square.site for $35 (cash or check) or $37 with credit
card. Only a limited number of tickets are available and MUST be purchased in
advance, while supplies last.
Downtown Golf Cart Rentals will offer a 15% rental discount off a 4-hour rental (5-9
p.m.) to any Taste ticket holder during the event night.
In addition, the Ocean Springs Chamber will also host its annual Ocean Springs Free
Food Fridays, where free food will be given away each Friday on Facebook
at www.facebook.com/oceanspringschamberofcommerce.
