(Ocean Springs, MS) – On Wednesday, August 30 from 4 – 6 p.m., the Ocean
Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau will partner with
Miner’s Doll and Toy Store to unveil and rededicate a metal statue. The
community is encouraged to bring the entire family and celebrate alongside
our downtown business community.

Enjoy cake, light music by Caution Swing Bridge, cotton candy and more. Our
partners with the Walter Anderson Museum of Art will be on hand with a
children’s activity. A presentation and ribbon cutting will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The ribbon cutting will commemorate the installation of a new statue, a replica
of the one stolen in 2022.

The original statue was purchased by Ocean Springs Main Street as a 90th
birthday gift in 2015 to Maryalice and John Miner, original owners of Miner’s
Doll and Toy Store. The current owner, Merileigh Miner and local businesses
are teaming up with the Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street to present a
block party in the Hancock Bank/Miner’s parking lot open to the public on
August 30.

“This statue is a reminder to stay young and keep a playful spirit,” says
Merileigh Miner. “We invite the community to join in on this happy occasion
celebrating all that is good.”
