PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release – May 26, 2022

(Ocean Springs, MS) – Wahl Grooming will once again bring its 20ft mobile barbershop to the 17th annual Red, White & Blueberry Festival on Saturday, June 4 from 10-2 p.m. at the L&N Depot Plaza in downtown in celebration of the “Wahl Man of the Year” contest. For every FREE facial hair trim, Wahl will donate $100 to the adoption charity, 170Foundation.

In 2020, Ocean Springs native, Jonathan Brannan earned the title of “Wahl Man of the Year” and helps to raise money for the 1720Foundation, an organization that helps families cover the many unexpected costs that come with adoption.

In honor of his good deeds, and in conjunction with Wahl’s mission to make the world a better – or bearder – place to live, the company is bringing its mobile barbershop to the Ocean Springs festival in June.

Wahl’s goal is to ‘Make the World a Bearder Place.’ What does that mean? As Wahl’s mobile barbershop travels the country visiting past ‘Wahl Man of the Year’ winners — like Jonathan — who are doing good in the world, barbers will be performing live beard trims at Wahl’s mobile barbershop to raise money for the 1720 Foundation.

Along the way, Wahl will also be looking for another bearded do-gooder to be named the next ‘Wahl Man of the Year.’ This search is part of the Wahl ‘Benevolent Beards’ Contest, which includes a Grand Prize of $20,000 for the winner and $5,000 for their charity.

“This event is a great way to put those fantastic facial follicles to good use. I encourage everyone who can, to put the razor down right now and get ready to come out for a free trim,” says Jonathan Brannan, Wahl Man of the Year. “Every single hair that’s trimmed means more funds for families going through the adoption process, which is an expensive journey.” And why not enjoy free ice cream topped with fresh blueberries and strawberries during the event.

The annual event partners with Maxem Health Urgent Care and the Ocean Springs Fresh Market and their vendors. Shop for fresh produce, plants, blueberries, and more. The Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street-Tourism Bureau staff and volunteers will be on hand to hand out free scoops of ice cream topped with a choice of blueberries and strawberries, while supplies last.
