WHAT ARE WE?

Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau is a non-profit, membership organization.  The primary goals/mission are to promote tourism, provide progressive leadership for economic and community vitality for the greater Ocean Springs, Jackson County area and gulf coast and to enhance local culture and preserve quality of life through planned growth, diversification and beautification.

In 1989, Ocean Springs became a national main street community designating the Chamber as the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street.  Today, the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau is a non-profit, private organization located in the heart of downtown and not only serves to promote and preserve, but also informs as the official city’s visitor center. with a town Visitors Center, creation and execution of community events and festivals, and production and distribution of marketing materials to showcase Ocean Springs to the world.

As a native of Ocean Springs, Cynthia serves as the executive director for the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau. She oversees and manages all efforts for the three tier organization including creating, planning and executing events such as the award winning Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival. 

She received her Bachelors of Arts in Speech Communication/Broadcast Journalism from William Carey University and her Master’s in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a graduate of Southeast Tourism Society’s Marketing College, Leadership Jackson County and is one of Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women and Community Leader through the One Coast Awards.

Sutton currently serves on the board for Mississippi Main Street Association, Mississippi Gulf Coast Restaurant and Hospitality Association and Advisory Board for Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast. Other board services have included the Mississippi Tourism Association, Public Relations Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter, Bicentennial Celebration Committee and others.
