Snow and Elsa on schedule for this year’s Tree Lighting with Santa in Ocean Springs

On Thursday, Dec. 5, the City of Ocean Springs and the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau will host the annual Tree Lighting with Santa event at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center from 6-8 p.m. The community is invited to bring the whole family out to enjoy free activities, visit with Santa and watch it snow!  Organizers of the event state as long as it does not rain, it will snow during this year’s event on the lawn of the Mary C. “This is always a popular event for the family to enjoy,” says Cynthia Sutton, executive director of the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau. ”We are excited to add this white wintery element to the annual event.  Snow is something we do not get to experience very often in Ocean Springs so this will be an added treat to the festivities.” The community will also be able to enjoy live music provided by the First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs, movie on the lawn, take a picture with Santa in front of a holiday tree provided by the Historic Ocean Springs Association, write a letter to the North Pole, make ornaments and more with City of Ocean Springs Parks & Recreation Department, and decorate cookies with the team from Becky’s Kitchen with the Mary C. Elsa from Frozen 2 will make a special appearance at this year’s event. She will be on the lawn to meet and take pictures with attendees as well as perform live during the festivities.  Bring your cameras for photos with Elsa and Santa. The event is free to attend. “I want to thank all the staff and volunteers who have helped to put together the tree lighting ceremony this year, says Mayor Shea Dobson.  Bring the family to the Mary C. this Thursday and help us kick off Christmas in Ocean Springs.”
