Ocean Springs Named Best Downtown Shopping in Mississippi Magazine’s Best of Mississippi
OCEAN SPRINGS, MS – (September 21, 2026) – Ocean Springs has another reason to celebrate.
Mississippi Magazine has announced the winners of its annual Best of Mississippi reader-voted
contest, and Ocean Springs has been named Best Downtown Shopping in Mississippi.
With a readership of approximately 250,000, Mississippi Magazine invites its readers to vote for
their favorite places, experiences and destinations throughout the state.
The Best of Mississippi recognition celebrates the many experiences that make Mississippi special, and Ocean Springs was selected for its downtown shopping experience — a mix of locally owned boutiques, art galleries, specialty shops and one-of-a-kind finds throughout its historic downtown.
“We are honored to receive this recognition, especially because Ocean Springs has so many wonderful people who own and operate our small businesses,” said Cynthia Sutton, Executive Director of the Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street-Tourism Bureau. “This award is a wonderful recognition of the people who work hard every day to make downtown Ocean Springs such a special place to shop, visit and experience.”

The multiple recognitions highlight the variety of experiences that bring visitors to Ocean Springs — from shopping and art to festivals, accommodations and weekend getaways.
“Being recognized in so many different categories says something about the experience people have when they come to Ocean Springs,” Sutton said. “They may come for the shopping, but then they discover the art, the food, the history, the festivals and the people. Hopefully, they leave wanting to come back and experience a little more of Ocean Springs.”
The Best of Mississippi winners are featured in Mississippi Magazine’s September/October issue as it celebrates reader favorites from communities and destinations across the state.
