(Ocean Springs) - The Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce - Main Street – Tourism Bureau is proud to host the 36th Annual Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival presented by Blue Moon on Saturday, November 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, November 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout downtown Ocean Springs.
   
This award winning, long standing arts festival attracts nearly 400 vendors from around the continent that display everything from the finest pottery, paintings, jewelry, and sculptures to woodwork, metal work, and handmade tile pieces.  Attendees will enjoy plenty of the best sounding southern music and tastiest, southern food around in this family –friendly outdoor event. 
   
The annual festival makes a significant contribution to developing the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a regional arts destination. The event has grown to become known as the largest fine arts festival in the state attracting an attendance in excess of 120,000 to the local area.  In 2011, the John C. Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development in partnership with the Mississippi State University Extension Service, worked to determine the economic impact totaling $23 million to the local economy confirming that the Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival serves both as a tool to bring in new revenue into the community, but also serves to enhance the culture of the region.
   
The event has been recognized as “Festival of the Year” by Southeast Tourism Society, “Southern Traveler Treasure” by AAA Southern Traveler’s Magazine, and “Best Special Event” by Mississippi Main Street and is presented by F.E.B. Distributing Company/Blue Moon.

Community Awards Given at Ocean Springs Chamber Annual Banquet

 (Ocean Springs) – On Thursday, February 13, the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau hosted its Annual Banquet at Gulf Hills Hotel & Conference Center and where awards were given to volunteers and local businesses for their outstanding accomplishments in the community for 2013.

The Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau held its annual banquet on Thursday, February 13 at Gulf Hills Hotel & Conference Center. Annual award were given for recognition of outstanding accomplishments in the community during 2013.

Awards were given in the following categories: Volunteer of the Year-The Joseph F. Tinney Award, Ambassador of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Marketing Partner of the Year, Small Business Marketing Awards, President’s Award, and 2013 President Recognition.

Volunteer of the Year-The Joseph F. Tinney Award “The Worker” 2013 went to

Stopher and Lauren Haug and Judy and Fred Thurman. Ambassador of the Year was awarded to Ashley Peresich of Rushing & Guice and Sherri Johnson of Community Bank. Outstanding Volunteer of the Year went to Dr. Bill Moore and Steve Pivnick with Keesler Air Force Base and Scott Wells with Rushing & Guice. Restaurant of the Year was presented to Vestige Restaurant. Small Business of the Year went to Coffee Fusion owned by Adam Flinchum. Marketing Partner of the Year was given to South Mississippi Living Magazine Small Business Marketing Award went to Tato-Nut Donut Shop and W.P. Shelton Jewelers. The President’s Award was presented to Jocelyn’s Restaurant. Community Partner of the Year Award was awarded to Mississippi Main Street Association and the President for 2013 appreciation award was given to Paige Riley with Hillyer House.

The banquet was sponsored by Charter Bank, Compton Engineering, C Spire, Gulf Hills Hotel & Conference Center, Gulfside Periodontics, Hancock Bank, M&M Bank, Mississippi Power and South Mississippi Living.

Robert Waldrop wins Blue Moon Art Project Contest

(Ocean Springs, MS) -  For the fourth year, the Blue Moon Art Project has become part of the annual Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival where one lucky person’s artwork will be the feature in the following year’s festival’s Blue Moon promotions.  This year’s
winner is Robert Waldrop of Gulfport, MS.
 
In August of this year, the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau and F.E.B. Distributing Company’s Blue Moon made a “Call to Artists” for their artful interpretation of the Blue Moon Brand.  The project, which is sweeping the nation and is also being featured in towns such as Madison, Wisconsin and Austin, Texas, is a popular promotion for Blue Moon’s artfully crafted beer brand.
 
The 2013 winning piece, “First Blue Moon”, by Robert Waldrop, will appear on billboards, signage, souvenir cups and more next fall.  The promotions will be in celebration and in preparation of the 36th Annual Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival.
This year’s festival presented by Blue Moon was held on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3 in downtown Ocean Springs.  The announcement of the winning art project was made on Sunday afternoon, along with the announcement of the People’s Choice Award.
 
More than 150,000 attendees had the opportunity to vote for their favorite piece among the “Top Ten” art submissions.  This year’s winner of the People’s Choice Award went to Elizabeth Huffmaster of Saucier, MS for her piece titled, Better with Friends”.
